Students are more energized when they own their education—
both in how they approach subject matter and in how they interact with their community of peers.

GCE’s curriculum delivers hands-on educational experiences designed for individuals who want courses that are more interactive and dynamic than the traditional classroom model. GCE’s flexible model includes three stages for every course:
Action project curriculum iconLearning hard skills & foundations
Internal investigation curriculum iconExploring world context and testing credibility
Internal investigation curriculum iconDemonstrating mastery of concepts & skills

Standards

100 percent college bound
GCE is committed to maintaining the highest standards of learning, as indicated by the success of our graduates: 100% of our 2013 and 2014 graduates are college bound, and 80% earned merit aid. To ensure academic excellence, our curriculum is fully accredited and was developed in alignment with the Common Core State Standards. In addition, every GCE course is aligned with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals; if it doesn’t make the world better, we don’t teach it.

Assessment

GCE educators implement a rigorous alignment process weaving together academic standards with our unique AAPGA framework. Reporting consists of written narratives and grades, and students are encouraged to schedule routine in-person and online meetings with instructors and counselors to discuss their individual progress. Digital portfolios reveal mastery of skills and values that transcend GCE assessment and support students in their applications for college, apprenticeships, and gap-year programs.
